P-BITC-I - Priority Bit Color Ingress

Identifies which P-BIT value in the ingress Ethernet frame shall be used to indicate yellow and/or green when the color identifier mode of the UNI/ENNI is PCP and the provider’s level of service supports both green and yellow color bits.

Character Positions 0-7 = P-BIT Value

NOTE 1: More information regarding this field can be found in the MEF Technical Specification MEF 23.1.

NOTE 2: When the level of service supports only Green or only Yellow then this field is not necessary.

VALID ENTRIES:

G = Green

Y = Yellow

NOTE 1: When the associated P-BIT field is populated, the value populated in this field must also appear in the P-BIT field against the same LREF.

NOTE 2: The value populated in this field cannot appear in another P-BITC-I field on a different LREF for the same UREF.

USAGE: This field is conditional.

NOTE 1: Optional when the associated LREF and associated P-BIT fields are populated and the UNI/ENNI color identifier is Priority Code Point (PCP), otherwise prohibited.

DATA CHARACTERISTICS: 8 alpha characters.

EXAMPLES: Y G

NOTE 1: The above example indicates 2 = Yellow and 3 = Green (only 2 & 3 were used in the P-BIT field); 0, 1, 4-7 = undefined.

    Y G G G

    Y

NOTE 1: The two examples above both indicate 0 = Yellow, 1-3 = Green (0-3 were used in the P-BIT field); 4-7 = undefined. If only “Y” is indicated then remaining values 1-3 in the associated P-BIT field shall be defaulted to “G”.
