P-BITC-E - Priority Bit Color Egress

Identifies which P-BIT value in the egress Ethernet frame shall be used to indicate green and/or yellow bits regardless of the color identifier mode of the UNI/ENNI.

NOTE 1: More information regarding this field can be found in the MEF Technical Specification MEF 23.1.

VALID ENTRIES:

1st character - Green

0 – 7 = P-BIT value

2nd character - Yellow

0 – 7 = P-BIT value

NOTE 1: Position 1 and 2 cannot be the same value.

NOTE 2: When the color identifier is PCP and the provider’s level of service supports both green and yellow color bit(s) then both characters are applicable.

NOTE 3: When the color identifier is PCP and the provider’s level of service supports either green or yellow color bit(s) then only 1 character is applicable and every frame will use that value.

NOTE 4: When the color identifier is DEI then only 1 character is applicable and every frame will use that value.

USAGE: This field is conditional.

NOTE 1: Optional when the associated LREF field is populated, otherwise prohibited.

DATA CHARACTERISTICS: 2 numeric characters.
